Where did the summer go? It seems like just yesterday that the spring flowers were blooming and now it is fall! The arrival of fall is also a reminder that the 2019 Fall Quarterly meeting is coming up.
The OCCD Staff and Board invite you to attend this year's Fall Quarterly Meeting, which will be held on October 30 and 31, 2019 at the Embassy Suites Columbus (2700 Corporate Exchange Dr., Columbus, OH 43231). This should be a great opportunity for us to expand our knowledge of community development through networking and informational sessions.
Prior to the quarterly meeting, there will be written agreements training on October 29, also at Embassy Suites. Consider coming for the training and staying for the meeting. Wednesday will begin with an overview of the upcoming census. This is truly an opportunity to stand up and be counted! This session will be followed by another hot topic – Opportunity Zones. We will feature a panel with State of Ohio, large city and small city representation to learn how our communities are approaching and maximizing this new prospect for investment.
Following our networking lunch, we will conduct our business meeting and get updates on state and federal legislation. After that, some of our “seasoned” members will offer their insights on coaching new staff and unsophisticated applicants. The final session will be an opportunity for attendees to get involved with one of OCCD’s committees. Currently, our committees cover membership, sessions and training, state program recipients, legislative issues, finance, nominations for the Board and Officers and strategic planning. The day will conclude with a networking reception.
On Thursday morning, we begin with two discussions. The first will focus on workforce development and Ohio Means Jobs. This will be followed with a presentation on the OCCD Strategic Plan. The meeting will conclude with the Entitlement and Small Cities meetings.
I look forward to seeing you on October 30 and 31 in Columbus.
