OCCD Summer Meeting and Diamond Jubilee Celebration

August 19, 2025

OCCD hosted the Summer Annual Meeting and Diamond Jubilee at the Nationwide Hotel & Conference Center on July 23-24, 2025 with over 125 individuals attending - OCCD Member Award Recipients, Foundation Scholarship Winners, current members, and invited guests, including OCCD Past Presidents.

Celebrating our 60th Anniversary as a nonprofit organization serving the members of Ohio’s communities, we look back to our inception when OCCD began in 1965 as The Urban Renewal Association of Ohio, Inc. with representatives from 17 Ohio cities – including Athens, Akron, Canton, Chillicothe, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, Dayton, Mansfield, Marietta, Martins Ferry, Middletown, Portsmouth, Springfield, Steubenville, Toledo and Youngstown.  Later, in preparation for anticipated changes in federal legislation affecting urban renewal programs, the Association changed its name to the Ohio Conference of Community Development, Inc., in July 1972.  In its 60‑year history, the agency membership has grown from 17 in 1965 to some 170 cities, counties and villages in 2025.

The OCCD Summer Annual Meeting and Diamond Jubilee was not only an opportunity to look back and share experiences from over the years, but to look forward to celebrating what is to come.  We celebrate those who have provided outstanding work in the field of community and economic development within their communities.
